As Ms. Hilton says, "That's Hot!"
I LOVE these dryer balls... I've only had them a few weeks now, but they make my towels SO MUCH SOFTER in the dryer than all the smelly, lack-luster liquid or sheet softeners combined over the past 20 + years I've been doing my own laundry.
Where I live, it's hard to hang the wash outside for about 4-5 months a year, such as during the Fall, Winter and Spring. Between dust and dirt filled zephyrs, and wet, muddy dogs, and ice, snow and rain, it's just much easier to use the dryer.
But, I could never get my towels and wash cloths to feel as soft as when I first bought them. So, after much hemming and hawing, and a recommendation from a friend - and Amazon reviews - I broke down and bought these PVC Free dryer balls and I'm in love with the results.
If Nellie's Scent Sticks were available in any other fragrance than lavender, I might purchase some. But, for now, the soft towels are just "my cup of tea!"

I bought these balls because after purchasing a high efficiency dryer, we couldn't dry sheets or towels without them turning into tight, wet bound up cocoons in the machine. It was very frustrating. I bought the dryer balls in the PVC free version because my dryer gets hot and the last thing I want is to heat up plastic and have those things off gassing chemicals into our house. I use two at a time and toss them in with my sheets and towels. They work perfectly! As they bounce around, their weight keeps the sheets separated just enough to keep them from getting tangled up. I haven't noticed any fabric softening effect, wrinkle reducing, or static reducing effect, but I didn't purchase them for that purpose. I haven't used them with regular loads to see if they actually affect the drying time of clothing. I have been using them for over a month and they looks exactly the same as the day they arrived, so we're not having any trouble with the integrity of the materials used in their manufacturing.
Here's the one negative thing about them, which is inseparable from their action and purpose. They bounce strongly against the side of the drum and that results in a VERY loud noise. It always sounds as if the load is unbalanced or that someone is desperately trying to get out of the dryer. But this is exactly why they work, so it's part of the package and I'll take it. Nellie's PVC free dryer balls are not spherical shaped but oblong. Perhaps this is why they are so loud, but it's a fine trade off not to have potentially irritating plastic fumes in our home.
